The Rector of the University of Mostar, Prof. Zoran Tomić, PhD, opened the 2024 BRAUIC conference, which this year was hosted by Tianjin Chengjian University. The University of Mostar is a proud participant in the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC), which promotes global cooperation in education, research, and development. In his speech, Rector Tomić emphasized that collaboration with partners provides exceptional opportunities for academic development, giving students and faculty access to invaluable resources and experiences. He also highlighted the importance of joint projects addressing global challenges such as climate change and rapid urbanization, praising cooperation with Chinese universities, including BUCEA, which contributes to the development of sustainable solutions for urban development. “This conference represents an opportunity to further strengthen collaboration, and through joint effort and work, we leave a lasting positive impact on the world and the academic community,” said Rector Tomić.
During the working session of the conference, the Head of the International Relations Office at the University of Mostar, Dr. Inja Stojkić, presented the University of Mostar to the new members of the consortium, emphasizing key aspects of past cooperation and future opportunities for collaboration. This event provides a platform for the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of partnerships among leading global higher education institutions with the goal of advancing education and research on a global scale.
“Through educational cooperation, new opportunities for innovation and the development of knowledge necessary for building more sustainable cities and communities arise. Organizing global conferences and projects that address topics such as urban resilience, green development, and smart urbanism further strengthens the University of Mostar’s role in addressing these critical issues,” said Stojkić.
BUCEA and the University of Mostar Sign Agreement to Launch International AI Project
The Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) and the University of Mostar have signed an agreement to launch an international project titled “Long-Term Remote Monitoring of Urban Changes and Environmental Conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina Based on Artificial Intelligence.” The aim of this project is to enhance research in the field of artificial intelligence and remote sensing, enabling long-term monitoring of urban and environmental changes and providing solutions for sustainable development. The project will involve a domestic team led by BUCEA and an international team led by the University of Mostar, working closely through regular meetings. This agreement, signed at BUCEA during the International Partners’ Day, underscores the importance of international cooperation in key areas for a sustainable future.
