The World Science Forum, held from November 20 to 23 in Budapest, brought together numerous leading scientists, politicians, representatives of international organizations, and experts from various sectors to exchange ideas and discuss key global challenges. The forum was attended by the Rector of the University of Mostar, Prof. Dr. Zoran Tomić, and the Assistant Rector for Information Technologies and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Tomislav Volarić. Their participation in this prestigious event further strengthened the international presence and role of the University of Mostar in global scientific and educational initiatives.
The main theme of the forum, "The Interface Between Science and Policy in Times of Global Transformations," provided a unique platform for exchanging ideas and discussing key challenges in the relationship between science, politics, and society. During the event, topics such as strengthening trust in science, risk assessment in policy-making, coordination and collaboration in science, and support for global multilateral dialogue aimed at accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda were discussed. Through discussions on building trust in science, assessing risks in policy decisions, and enhancing global cooperation, the forum contributed to finding concrete solutions that will shape the future of scientific and political actions.
The forum was organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Science Council (ISC), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the InterAcademy Partnership for Science (IAP), the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC), the Global Young Academy (GYA), and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) as the host.
Forum participants agreed on the importance of improving the effectiveness of the interface between science, policy, and society to create conditions for faster and stronger responses to the challenges of the 21st century.
