Ambassador of Israel to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania Galit Peleg visited the University of Mostar and on that occasion, met with the Rector of the University, Prof Zoran Tomić, PhD. Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof Sanja Bijakšić, PhD, Assistant Rector for Information Technologies and Innovations, Tomislav Volarić, PhD, and Marko Laco attended the meeting.
Rector Tomić introduced Ambassador Peleg to the work and projects at the University of Mostar. They reflected on the successful cooperation with the embassy and with universities, higher education institutions, and companies from Israel. The meeting discussed further steps to strengthen and connect the University with Israel in the framework of education with an emphasis on the development of information technologies and startups, biomedicine, agriculture, and food technology. In addition, Rector Tomić handed the ambassador the Decision on the accepted definition of Anti-Semitism of the International Holocaust Remembrance Association, which the Senate of the University of Mostar unanimously adopted in January, on the occasion of commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The University of Mostar has successfully cooperated with Israel so far. SUM signed a cooperation agreement with M.T. Abraham Group and agreements with the Azrieli College of Engineering Jerusalem and the Holon Institute of Technology from Tel Aviv, signed during SUM Management's working visit to Israel in 2022. Also, during the visit to Israel, the delegation of the University of Mostar participated in the Cybertech Tel Aviv 2022 conference, which serves as the most significant B2B networking platform in the global cyber industry. The excellent cooperation was later evidenced by a guest lecture by Michael Mizrahi, Head of the Department of Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at the Azrieli College of Engineering Jerusalem at the University of Mostar.
