Leading minds from the regional technology scene offered insights into the latest technological challenges and innovations during the IT Day of the third MoStart Conference, covering topics ranging from security challenges in the automotive industry to advanced research in longevity and artificial intelligence.

The conference gathered representatives of educational institutions, industry, and the tech community, creating a platform for open dialogue about the future of the digital society. "Our mission is to show that information technologies are not just tools but key drivers of innovation, competitiveness, and social progress. Through lectures, workshops, and demonstrations of modern solutions, we are creating space for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among all stakeholders in the digital future," emphasized Ivan Ostojić, a member of the MoStart Conference Organizing Committee, adding that he is proud that the University of Mostar, through SUMIT and this conference, is continuously investing in the development of the IT sector and strengthening its visibility at the regional and international levels.

Technological Challenges and Innovations in the Industry

The IT Day program offered a range of interesting and relevant topics that captured the participants' attention.
Nina Erceg's lecture on security challenges related to the increasing role of artificial intelligence in the automotive industry raised the question – are we truly safe?

Meanwhile, an inspiring fireside chat with Ivan Bešlić, co-founder of the globally recognized Sofascore and president of UNIT Croatia, sparked a discussion on the need for a Ministry of Artificial Intelligence. "I believe that at this moment, we do not necessarily need a Ministry for Artificial Intelligence. What is crucial is to establish a clear and open dialogue between the state and the private sector. The private sector must have the opportunity to engage with policymakers and decision-makers. Without such dialogue, even the existence of a ministry would have no real effect. The substance of cooperation and mutual understanding is far more important than the mere existence of an institution," Bešlić emphasized.

The panel "C-level – Pivot or Disappear", featuring leaders from companies such as Orqa, Intercapital, Aircash, TIS Group, and Electrocoin, moderated by Petar Štefanić, provided concrete answers on how the IT sector can survive and grow amid global instability, technological turbulence, and market challenges.

Startup Innovations and Global Expansion

The Startup Stars segment was dedicated to the new generation of IT entrepreneurs who presented their projects and shared insights into launching startups in today’s challenging business environment.

Through their stories, the importance of innovation, knowledge, and entrepreneurial spirit in developing globally relevant digital solutions was highlighted.
The panel "Local Startups with Global Reach" further opened up discussions about the possibilities of international expansion from smaller environments. "At a time when the internet is accessible in almost every corner of the world, the opportunities for growth and innovation are greater than ever. That’s why our vision at Qubinets is clear – we want to create a platform that allows anyone to quickly and easily integrate innovation into their business, no matter where they are," emphasized Ivan Konjevod, founder and owner of Qubinets, a Croatian developer startup.

Matija Matijevac from Maidea delivered a humorous and inspiring lecture, breaking stereotypes about IT professionals and emphasizing the importance of passion and creativity in technological careers.

The IT Day of the third MoStart Conference reaffirmed its role as a central gathering place for the regional tech community, highlighting the importance of collaboration between education, industry, and technology.

With a clear vision and the enthusiasm of its participants, MoStart once again confirmed that Mostar and the surrounding region have the potential to become a significant point on the technological map of Europe.
